What We Do | Drive sustained impact
Working in partnership to achieve transformational change.
Drive Sustained Impact
VillageReach works with governments and the private sector to drive sustained impact at scale. We recognize that merely developing solutions is not sufficient; we need to see those changes sustained. Even proven solutions have failed to develop and scale in a way that allows governments to embrace, afford and manage the solutions.
Transitioning Well Initiative
To achieve this work, VillageReach launched the Transitioning Well initiative in 2019. It guides our approach to transitioning VillageReach solutions and engages stakeholders because we cannot drive sustained impact alone.
Implementation and Evaluation Guidance
- Build sustainability and transition into your proposals to donors
- Design new programs with transition in mind
- Integrate transition into your existing program
- Adopt Transitioning Well best practices in your organization
- Align key stakeholders on a transition strategy
- Access Transitioning Well guidelines
Transition to government requires activities, resources, and budgets, so it’s important to include these in your proposals for funding. Look at the TW Guidelines to become familiar with the needed milestones and associated activities.
As you co-design your program with the government, align on the need for Transitioning Well. Use the Journey to Scale with Government Tool and the TW Guidelines to support these discussions.
Your program is a year or more into implementation and you are just starting to work on transition to government or a government partner. Use the Journey to Scale with Government Tool and the TW Guidelines to support these discussions.
You want to adopt the ways of working needed to apply Transitioning Well best practices across your programs and organization. Look at the TW Guidelines for insights on tools and at the TW role ToRs for insights on needed roles.
You have many stakeholders who need to agree on the goal of the transition and their role in the transition. Review the Journey to Scale with Government Tool and then, using the Stakeholder Alignment Workshop, align stakeholders to an end state vision for your transition.
An integrated set of eight guidelines provides insights on what to do at each phase of a program to ensure a successful transition. Guidelines include: solution description, solution toolkit, solution costing guideline, transition strategy, transition readiness assessment (TRA) guideline & tool, transition plan, skill development plan, evaluation & adaptation plan.

Solution Amplification
Transitioning solutions to other partners and embedding them into the public sector requires a mindset shift for funders, government, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other partners. We collaborate with stakeholders to learn from their experiences with transition, as well as to amplify key messages from our Transitioning Well initiative.

Radical collaboration with the private sector
The private sector can play a critical role in transforming health care delivery. In an effort to radically collaborate with the private sector to drive sustained impact at scale, we help to build strong public-private collaborations, which ultimately allows private sector innovations and expertise to fill gaps in the public health systems.
