CompleteBackground
The goal of Youth-Led Contraception Knowledge Generation in Malawi was to generate primary evidence about adolescent-specific needs, preferences, and behaviors related to modern contraceptives to inform future design and development of innovations in contraceptive methods or services. Early in our implementation, we deemed the project “Project Izizi” both internally and externally. The term “Izizi” refers to a Chichewa way of stating “this is ours.” The name was selected to reflect that the knowledge generation activities were being led by adolescents themselves. The project implemented innovative, dynamic, and youth-driven research methodology to engage a cross-section of Malawian adolescents. Project activities fell into three domains: planning, implementation, and analysis.
