Dr. Baltazar Chilundo
Director, Metrics and Evaluation in Mozambique
Baltazar has over 18 years of experience in public health research, education and practice (strategic information, monitoring and evaluation, health systems, primary health care and health policy). Over the past 15 years he has focused his work on HIV, malaria, sexual and reproductive health, community health workers and primary health care.
His last job before joining VillageReach was with ICAP where he was the national director of their strategic information unit here in Mozambique. He has also played the role of national director of strategic information (research, monitoring and evaluation) for Malaria Consortium Mozambique, Johns Hopkins University Center for Communication Programs in Mozambique and Pathfinder International also in Mozambique. Baltazar has also worked as senior official for research, monitoring and evaluation of projects like FORTE Saúde (a USAID consortium project implemented by Chemonics International, JHPIEGO and Health Alliance International) and Bassopa Malaria (a USAID consortium project implemented by Chemonics International and Malaria Consortium).
He has vast experience in the use of tools like DHIS2 for planning and M&E, theories of change, results-based management, logical frameworks etc. He is also a member of National Medical Council (OrMM) and of the Study Center for Health and Population (CEPSA). Baltazar has PhD in Public Health with a focus on M&E & HMIS from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Oslo.
