Chief of Party, Last Mile Supply Chain Program
Cathy joined VillageReach in May of 2018 to support the LMSC program
as “chief of party” of a USAID funded supply chain program. The Last Mile Supply Chain (LMSC) program is a cooperative agreement to design and implement a streamlined and effective last mile supply chain system for medical commodities and laboratory system in Mozambique. The primary objective of the program is to improve the availability of medical commodities and diagnostics at the last mile.
Cathy brings over 10 years of public health experience to her role at VillageReach. Prior to her LMSC work, she was the Country Director of Health Alliance International (HAI) for 8 years based first in Beira, Mozambique and then in Maputo. She oversaw programs in 3 provinces focusing on maternal and child health, malaria, and tuberculosis with a heavy emphasis on implementation science research. She has also worked on the strategic information team at CDC Tanzania supporting PEPFAR funded programs. After receiving her MPH from the University
of Washington, she worked as a Peace Corps trainer in Ecuador, Peru, and Paraguay.
Working on a health systems strengthening project in Mozambique –which focused solely on supporting the government – it became apparent that there were some things that the government alone could not respond to efficiently or adequately and that they needed to also work with the private sector. I wanted to be part of this new way of thinking and doing business. VillageReach is well position to do this due to all the good work done with the government in the immunization area in Mozambique.
