Deputy Country Director, Mozambique
Aida brings a nuanced understanding of what it will take to introduce a COVID-19 vaccine in Mozambique and can draw on her experience managing program implementation with government officials, funders and other civil society organizations.
She works closely with Mozambique’s Ministry of Health to strengthen immunization supply chains and is now supporting Mozambique’s efforts to integrate various health supply chains. She provides technical assistance and strategic guidance to government officials, working closely with the National Logistics Working Group to advise and support coordination of EPI. Aida was an integral part of the team that embedded a Logistics Management Information System country-wide at the national, provincial and district warehouses.
She also leads and manages the implementation of VillageReach programs in Mozambique, including the Drones for Health program, electronic immunization registries, exploring ride sharing options to transport lab samples, and new interventions as part of VillageReach’s COVID-19 response. With nearly ten years at VillageReach, she has reviewed communications materials and standard operating procedures for health facilities, participated in technical working groups, and trained staff from provincial health departments on program implementation.
Prior to VillageReach, Aida worked for Malawi’s Ministry of Education School Health Department.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration and Social Science and a Masters of Public Health from Curtin University of Technology in Western Australia.
