Our Mission

VillageReach’s mission is to save lives and improve well-being in developing countries by increasing community access to healthcare and other essential services.

All too frequently lifesaving vaccines and medical interventions are available in developing countries, but are unable to reach any further than the urban areas. The extraordinary resources and infrastructure needed to transport critical supplies to remote communities and safely administer them makes the cost and logistics of reaching those most in need prohibitive.

  Up to 70% of the developing world lives in rural areas with limited access  to healthcare and other essential services.

  Three million children die annually from vaccine-preventable diseases, many of whom live in remote areas beyond the reach of health services.

 The cost of delivering and administering vaccines is about five times higher to a rural then an urban area.

VillageReach is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in Seattle, WA.  Since 2000, we have been developing innovative solutions to issues of “last mile” healthcare logistics and infrastructure, helping to empower governments and local partners to bring healthcare and other essential services to those most in need.

Our demonstration program in the province of Cabo Delgado and Nampula, in Northern Mozambique, currently serves 251 clinics covering a population of 5.2 million and has led to a 47% increase the number of children who are fully immunized each year in participating districts of northern Mozambique.  In addition, we are refining our model for replication in Malawi and other developing countries.

Our Identity

We work with governments, communities, and other key partners to extend the reach of health systems and improve the quality of services in effective and sustainable ways.

We create solutions that:

  Build Local Capacity through participatory processes to improve leadership, work practices and environment, worker competencies, and community engagement;

 Improve Logistics Management by streamlining planning and supply-chain systems and by supporting sound management through analytic solutions;

  Fill Critical Infrastructure Gaps by establishing and supporting social enterprises to meet needs in areas such as transport, power, refrigeration, communication, and waste management;

 Mobilize Communities to take greater ownership of public systems that exist to serve the community – generating a social atmosphere of higher expectations and greater accountability.

Our Values

 Innovation: We value agility and embrace thoughtful change. We continuously learn from experience, from our partners, and from the communities with which we work.

  Relationships: We strive to be a collaborative and respectful partner so that the programs we develop are locally appropriate and sustainable.

  Stewardship: We create an environment of trust and accountability. We make socially, environmentally, and fiscally responsible decisions for sustainable change.
